I was born in St. Helens, Oregon in 1951. Raised in Warren, Oregon and went to grade school there, grades 1-8. I went to Scappoose High school graduating in 1969. From there I spent 10 months at Northern College of Business taking a fashion merchandising course. I was employed at Astoria Office Supply for 1 year as office manager, and then went to Montgomery Ward in Portland, working in the Catalog Sales Dept. for 5 years. At that time I met and married Jerry Berg, and we moved to Dayton in February 1975. I did transfer to Montgomery Ward in Walla Walla and worked there for 3 months. I applied for a job at Elk Drug with Mike Floyd in May of 1975 and was hired and have been there ever since, except for the years I was the purchasing agent at Dayton General Hospital.
Jerry and I have 4 children. Jerry (Jay) Jr., lives in Louisiana and is a construction worker. Alicia Haney, 34, graduated from Dayton in 1997 and attended EWU and is married and works in Spokane. Meg, 31, also a Dayton graduate of 2000, also attended EWU and is a 1st grade teacher near Tri-Cities. Luci, 27, graduated with the Dayton class of 2004 is currently a nanny in the San Francisco Bay area.
I stay active with family, church activities, the city, and the chamber of commerce and many hobbies.
It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Dayton for the last 10 years. I recommend it to anyone who cares about our city and someone with no agenda, just the City?s wellbeing at heart. It is a great learning experience.
